Frans van Bruggen is Lead Norms, Values and Regulation at AIC4NL (AI Coalition for the Netherlands), where he leads initiatives on AI governance, regulation, and responsible AI adoption. Alongside his work at AIC4NL, he is an AI researcher whose academic work focuses on the supervision and governance of artificial intelligence, examining how regulators can effectively oversee advanced AI systems. Previously, Frans spent five years at De Nederlandsche Bank (the Dutch Central Bank), where he was responsible for AI policy and the development of the supervisory framework for artificial intelligence in the Dutch financial sector.
Combining experience from academia, financial supervision, and practice, he works at the intersection of AI standards, governance, regulation, and innovation, with a particular focus on translating emerging AI governance frameworks into practical implementation.
